Let’s go see some art…

The weather is acting like it’s spring, so why don’t we? Go out exploring, who knows where you’ll end up? Perhaps at the UP Collective Studios, an innovative space connecting emerging artists with the public.  Their new show opens Friday February 10th, featuring 3 artists in each of its 3 galleries. Details below.

Main gallery: At Water’s Edge features photographs by Glenn Twiggs that he took along the Amazon river in Brazil to chronicle the social, political and environmental changes that have been affecting the landscape of this beautiful country. http://glenntwiggs.com/

North gallery: mixed media paintings by Mary H. Chriss. In the lead up to SXSW, Mary is interested in exploring the ways in which music has been listened to and how technology has changed over the last 30 years.  Her work comments on everything from religion to the waste of “outdated” technology.

South gallery: oil paintings by Christine Rasmussen. Christine paints colorful abstracts and urban landscapes, based on personal experiences and her wish to highlight and appreciate the mundane and ordinary scenes of life. www.christinekeenarasmussen.com

The exhibition runs February 10-26.  Opening reception: Friday February 10th from 7-10PM catered by Rio’s Brazilian Café.  Regular gallery hours are 11AM – 3PM Saturday and Sunday.  The Up Collective Studios are located at 2326 E. Cesar Chavez Austin, TX 78702. http://www.upcollective.org/
